Hello Americans. I’m Todd Starnes with news and commentary next.

In 1996 Keri Strug made Olympic history in Atlanta. She broke her ankle on the vault — but instead of pulling out of the competition, she played through the pain.

Ms. Strug stuck the landing on her second vault and helped Team USA win its first-ever team gold medal in women’s gymnastics.

That remarkable moment stands in stark contrast to Simone Biles – proclaimed by many to be the greatest of all time.

Her team was denied a gold medal because she needed to take a mental health day.

Ms. Biles said the stress had just become too much — and she needed to prioritize her wellbeing.

The blue check marks on Twitter rushed to defend Ms. Biles. They said her decision to quit on her team was brave.

It was an act of selfishness that has come to define the selfie-generation.

Could you imagine a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide telling Coach Bear Bryant he was taking a day off for some “me time”?

Sweet mercy, America.
