President Trump is calling for national protests once he is arrested.
Writing from his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida, Trump declared he “WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”
George Soros-funded District Attorney Alvin Briggs is reportedly set to charge Trump in New York over a case that involves a $130,000 payment to adult-film star Stormy Daniels.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy called for immediate congressional investigations.
“Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump,” McCarthy wrote on Twitter. “I’m directing relevant committees to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions.”
Only one Republican presidential hopeful has posted a public message of support for Trump.
“A Trump indictment would be a national disaster,” declared biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy in a lengthy tweet. “It is un-American for the ruling party to use police power to arrest its political rivals … we cannot afford to politicize the justice system or else we will reach our breaking point.”
Former Rep. Lee Zeldin, who waged an unsuccessful gubernatorial campaign, said his first act as governor would have been to fire Bragg.
“Alvin Bragg may very well be the most dangerous, divisive, incompetent, and compromised District Attorney in America,” he wrote on Twitter.
“This is what they do in communists countries to destroy their political opponents!” tweeted Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. “It’s ALL FOR POLITICS!”
