Walmart is facing national outrage after a store in Millington, Tennessee refused service to a pro-life organization.
The executive director of Confidential Care Ministries had wanted to purchase $100 gift cards for some of their clients – newborn mothers.
But when the person at the checkout counter learned that the gift cards were for a pro-life ministry, he stopped the transaction.
“I’m not comfortable with that,” he said.
He said it was against company policy.
Cathy Waterbury – the executive director – pushed back – but the Walmart worker held firm.
“I was shocked…this is really not acceptable,” Waterbury told “Wake Up Memphis” host Tim Van Horn on The Mighty 990 Monday.

She told the Walmart worker he violated her rights.
“It’s the first time I’ve ever experienced discrimination,” the pro-life ministry leader told Van Horn.
“These are moms that just want our help and we just want to bless them with a gift,” Waterbury said.
She went to a nearby Kroger and they were more than happy to sell gift cards.
Mrs. Waterbury called Walmart’s corporate complaint line – but she was told the issue did not merit further discussion.
I disagree. When a major company discriminates against a pro-life ministry — it should become a national conversation.
And that starts with picking up the phone and calling the Walmart in Millington, Tennessee.
