Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) did not have kind words to say about Democrat leadership in Congress.
The self-avowed democratic socialist made the comments in a lengthy interview with The New Yorker published Monday.
“Honestly, it is a shit show,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “It’s scandalizing, every single day. What is surprising to me is how it never stops being scandalizing.”
AOC said the “adults in the room” often defer to “groupthink” and “self-delusion.”
She took a shot at President Biden for not using more executive orders to get his agenda accomplished, and without naming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) by name, she said she wanted bolder leadership.
“I wish the Democratic Party had more stones,” the New York progressive told the outlet.
Ocasio-Cortez, 32, ended by saying she hasn’t lost hope despite her party failing her.
“There are times when I’m cynical and … I’m just, like, ‘Man, maybe I should just, like, learn to grow my own food and teach other people how to do that!’” she concluded. “But I also reject the total cynicism that what’s happening here is fruitless.”
