AOC Says Americans are not “patroning” Chinese restaurants because of their racism

Dr. Sebastain Gorka Wednesday mocked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., over her recent comment that some Americans are not “patroning” Chinese and Asian restaurants because of their “straight-up racism.”

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez was apparently not aware that the correct word to use was “patronizing,” not “patroning.”

Ocasio-Cortez, a major Sen. Bernie Sanders supporter, said in an Instagram live video that these restaurants “are feeling the pain of racism. Where people are literally not patroning Chinese restaurants, um, they’re not patroning Asian restaurants because of just straight-up racism around the coronavirus.”

Gorka, the ex-Trump aide and host of “America First,” questioned the merits of her claim on the “Todd Starnes Radio Show” and wondered aloud if it is really true that she was a bartender before her political ascent.

“I kind of wonder now,” he said. “Do we believe that this woman was a bartender? How does a person who worked in the service industry not know that patroning isn’t a word? That when you go to a bar or restaurant you’re patronizing it? This is the Democrat Party…this is stunning.”

Todd Starnes, the host of the show, quipped that he now feels guilty about recently passing by a P.F. Chang’s restaurant inside an airport.

“I feel really bad about that now,” the host said, laughing. “Really bad.”

Gorka said he ate Chinese food for dinner last night “but it had nothing to do with the Wuhan Virus.”

Wuhan, China, is at the center of the coronavirus epidemic. The disease was referred to as the Wuhan Virus when it first emerged by a number of news outlets, including the Washington Post. The Post reported that WHO decided to change the name, in part, so no group of people feel stigmatized.

Gov. Mike Huckabee also tweeted about Ocasio-Cortez’ comment, saying, “This is like an SNL parody. She is like literally like not aware of like literally much of like anything, like not even fact there’s like literally no word ‘patroning’ and she like is literally clueless as to what like racism literally means. And she is in Congress. Literally!”

Last month, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited San Francisco’s Chinatown to show tourists that there is nothing to fear while visiting.

“That’s what we’re trying to do today is to say everything is fine here,” Pelosi said, according to NBC Bay Area. “Come because precautions have been taken. The city is on top of the situation.”
