Former Attorney General William Barr is taking shots at his former boss, Donald Trump, in a new book, suggesting the GOP pick another candidate for 2024.
In his memoir, “One Damn Thing After Another,” Barr wrote that Trump “lost his grip” following the 2020 presidential election.
“He stopped listening to his advisers, became manic and unreasonable, and was off the rails,” Barr writes in his memoir, per the Times,” Barr wrote, The Hill reported. “Country and principle took second place.”
Barr, who served President Trump from February 2019 to December 2020, wrote that another Trump campaign would be “dismaying,” calling on Republicans to move on and find a new candidate for the 2024 election.
“We need leaders not only capable of fighting and ‘punching,’ but also persuading and attracting — leaders who can frame, and advocate for, an uplifting vision of what it means to share in American citizenship,” writes the former attorney general in his memoir.
He added, “Donald Trump has shown he has neither the temperament nor persuasive powers to provide the kind of positive leadership that is needed.”
