Arriving nearly an hour late, President Biden addressed the nation Friday at the White House about the Afghanistan chaos with masked Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken behind him.
Biden said he doesn’t know how many Americans are in the Taliban-controlled country, adding that the U.S. government is trying to figure that out.
He said any American who wants to come home will be brought home but added: “I cannot promise what the final outcome will be.”
The president called on members of the press for questions after his address, refusing to take any from reporters he didn’t call on.
