President Biden, days after the first lady likened Latinos to breakfast tacos, compared his “Irish American” background to the “Palestinian people” on his trip to Israel.
Biden met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Bethlehem where he made his latest gaffe.
“My background and the background of my family is Irish American, and we have a long history of, not fundamentally unlike the Palestinian people with Great Britain and their attitude toward Irish Catholics over the years for 400 years,” Biden said.

“The Palestinian people are hurting now,” Biden said. “You can just feel it. Your grief and frustration. In the United States, we can feel it.”
Biden announced $316 million in financial assistance to the Palestinians and said they deserve their own state.
“Palestinian people deserve a state of their own that’s independent, sovereign, viable and contiguous. Two states for two peoples, both of whom have deep and ancient roots in this land, living side by side in peace and security,” Biden said.
The president stood by as Abbas attacked the Jewish State.
Abbas said it was time to “turn the page on the Israeli occupation on our land.” He also said Israel “cannot continue to act as a state above law.”
