Biden’s Coronavirus Task Force Includes Doctor Who Argued It’s Not Worth Living Past 75

Joe Biden, the Democrat who claimed victory over President Trump in last week’s election, has made an effort to role out as many initiatives as possible in order to make any allegation against the validity of his victory all the more preposterous, according to critics.

But in his rush to get someone from Rahm Emanuel’s family back into the White House, it seems the 77-year-old looked past some remarks by Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, who will be part of his coronavirus task force.

The National Review pointed out that Emanuel, who is the head of the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania, once made the argument about the merits of dying before reaching 75 years old.

He wrote in a 2014 article in The Atlantic that 75 “defines a clear point in time: for me, 2032.”

“It removes the fuzziness of trying to live as long as possible,” he wrote. “Its specificity forces us to think about the end of our lives and engage with the deepest existential questions and ponder what we want to leave our children and grandchildren, our community, our fellow Americans, the world. The deadline also forces each of us to ask whether our consumption is worth our contribution.”

There are obvious issues with a doctor taking a seat on the coronavirus task force who apparently sees little go gain from living past 75, especially that the coronavirus is so dangerous for the older population.

Emanuel also wrote that beyond the age of 75, he would begin rejecting flu shots.

“Flu shots are out,” he wrote, according to the Daily Mail. “Certainly if there were to be a flu pandemic, a younger person who has yet to live a complete life ought to get the vaccine or any antiviral drugs.”

The comments could be seen as problematic because just announced that data shows its coronavirus vaccine is more than 90% effective. Would Emanuel tell older Americans to skip the vaccine because they lived long enough, and should let nature run its course?

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., took to Twitter on Monday to call out Emanuel’s philosophy on dying and old age.

“A member of Biden’s new coronavirus task force is a lockdown enthusiast who has written that living past 75 isn’t worth it,” Cotton wrote. “Americans want our country opened up, not creepy bioethicists who enjoy playing God.”
