Pro-parent school board members, endorsed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), swept their races across the Sunshine State Tuesday night.
All of DeSantis’ endorsements in the school board races were undefeated, according to multiple reports. Six on Tuesday and 24 in previous elections, partnering with Moms for Liberty.
In a Fox News interview, school board member Cindy Spray thanked the governor for the endorsement, including how it resonated with Florida voters.
“The support I got from Governor Desantis is what put us over the edge. His view of how we need to stay back to the basics of education aligned with what I had viewed. It was tremendous and quite humbling to get that kind of endorsement from somebody… America’s governor.” Spray told Fox.
The school board members, along with Desantis, won races across the state of Florida for their argument of giving rights back to the parents in the classroom, including Desantis signing the Parental Rights in Education Act earlier this year.
Another elected school board member Jackie Rosario continued her excitement for her new job saying, “It’s exciting. I’m happy, I’m elated, and I’m glad it’s over.”
