President Biden told NATO allies “we would respond” Thursday if Russian President Vladimir Putin uses chemical weapons against Ukraine.
“We would respond if he uses it, and the nature of the response would depend on the nature of the use,” Biden said in a Brussels meeting as the Russia-Ukraine war enters its fourth week.
Biden told the world leaders the U.S. is committing $1 billion in Ukraine aid and would welcome 100,000 Ukrainian refugees.
“Putin is getting exactly the opposite of what he intended to have as a consequence of going into Ukraine,” Biden said.
