CIA Director William J. Burns secretly met face-to-face with the top Taliban leader Monday in Kabul, Afghanistan, The Washington Post reports.
Burns met Abdul Ghani Baradar, according to two U.S. officials as the August 31 deadline to evacuate stranded Americans and troops looms.
While unclear what they met about, it was “likely” asking for safe passage of Americans to the airport, The Post said.
