The United States is sending $1.7 billion in additional taxpayer aid to Ukraine.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), in coordination with the Treasury Department and the World Bank, will help pay the salaries of healthcare workers in Ukraine.
The package “was made possible with the generous bipartisan support from Congress” and “part of President Biden’s commitment to President Zelensky to provide Ukraine with direct budgetary aid,” USAID said in a statement.

The U.S. has already provided $4 billion in support for Ukraine.
The department said the aid is aimed at “keeping gas and electricity flowing to hospitals, schools, and other critical infrastructure, supporting the provision of humanitarian supplies to citizens, and continuing to pay the salaries of civil servants and teachers.”
