DEVELOPING: First son Hunter Biden is expected to be indicted on a felony gun charge, according to the Department of Justice.
“The Speedy Trial Act requires that the Government obtain the return of an indictment by a grand jury by Friday, September 29, 2023, at the earliest,” the DOJ said.
Special counsel David Weiss “intends to seek the return of an indictment in this case” against President Biden’s son by the end of the month, according to a court filing.
Hunter Biden could face jail time after his plea deal involving a gun possession and tax charges fell through. He ended up pleading not guilty to two counts of failure to pay federal income taxes on income of more than $1.5 million annually in 2017 and 2018.
Biden’s lawyers are expected to submit their own filing by the end of the day.
