BULLETIN: Judge Issues Order on Trump in Docs Case

A federal judge issued a protective order against former President Trump Monday preventing the leading 2024 GOP contender from sharing evidence obtained in the classified documents case.

The order issued by Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart applies to Trump and his co-defendant, Walt Nauta, who is Trump’s valet, which was sought by special counsel Jack Smith.

“The Discovery Materials, along with any information derived therefrom, shall not be disclosed to the public or the news media, or disseminated on any news or social media platform, without prior notice to and consent of the United States or approval of the Court,” Reinhart said in his order.

“Defendants shall only have access to Discovery Materials under the direct supervision of Defense Counsel or a member of Defense Counsel’s staff. Defendants shall not retain copies of Discovery Material,” it added.

Failure to comply with the order could result in criminal “contempt of court or other civil or criminal sanctions.”

Trump, who denied any wrongdoing, is charged with 37 federal counts.
