Johnson, a rock-sold Conservative and devout Evangelical Christian, is a beloved friend of those who cherish religious liberty and secure borders.

The first thing Speaker Designate Mike Johnson did last night was ask the Republican caucus to pray with him.

“This is EXACTLY what we need at this exact moment,” conservative pundit Monica Crowley said.

Johnson, who’s served in Congress since 2016 and is 51 years old, is a staunch social conservative who currently serves in party leadership as the vice chair of the House GOP conference.

Durning this morning’s vote, he shared a photo taken inside the House chamber. It showed the American flag and the words, “In God We Trust.”

Last October, Johnson led over two dozen of his colleagues in introducing the “Stop the Sexualization of Children Act of 2022.”

Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) saluted Johnson’s conservative credentials.

“Mike is a champion for LIFE and parental rights,” she said. “He is a man of deep faith, and I join him every week for a Congressional prayer meeting to pray for our country. We have marched together during the annual March For Life, and he has always been a strong advocate for the nuclear family.”

The controversy over the speakership began three weeks ago when Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) led a rebellion that led to the ouster of then-Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

“Steve Scalise, Jim Jordan, and Tom Emmer all saw last night that the actual saboteur of their candidacies was Kevin McCarthy. His swampy efforts were exposed, and they were vanquished,” Gaetz wrote on Twitter. “That’s why all Americans should be excited about the ascendance of Rep. Mike Johnson to the Speakership.”
