BULLETIN: RNC Chair Ronna Romney McDaniel to Resign

DEVELOPING STORY: Embattled RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has offered to leave her position following the South Carolina primary later this month to allow former President Donald Trump to install his own leaders of the party, two party advisers tell CNN.

RNC spokesperson Keith Schipper told CNN in a statement that “nothing has changed. This will be decided after South Carolina.”

“We’ve become a party of losers since Ronna McDaniel took over as chairwoman of the RNC in 2017, we have lost 2018, 2020, 2022,” former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said during the debates. “I think that we have to have accountability in our party. Ronna, if you want to come on stage tonight, you wanna look the GOP voters in the eye and tell ’em you resign I will turn over my time to you.”

Michael Whatley, the chair of the North Carolina Republican Party, is expected to replace McDaniel, The New York Times reported.
