There is a disturbing story coming from Nashville.
A series of emails shows that city leaders intentionally misled citizens about the severity of the China Virus outbreak.
Turns out it was not as bad as they thought – but the mayor’s office and the health department kept that information secret.
“The Dem Mayor of Nashville KNOWINGLY LIED ABOUT COVID DATA to justify shutting down bars & restaurants, killing countless jobs & small businesses in the process,” Donald Trump, Jr. tweeted. “Everyone involved should face jail time. How many other Dem run cities is this happening in?”
Emails obtained by Fox 17 show government leaders discussing how to handle the news that only 22 cases of the virus were traced back to bars and restaurants.
Instead, the city shut down the bars and restaurants – plunging thousands of people into unemployment.
Councilman Steve Glover accused the city’s government leaders of a coverup.
“They are fabricating information. They’ve blown there entire credibility,” he told the television station. “It’s gone i don’t trust a thing they say going forward …nothing.”
Glover told Fox 17 that he’s been contacted by an endless stream of downtown bartenders, waitresses, and restaurant owners demanding to know why would they not release the China Virus numbers?
“We raised taxes 34 percent and put hundreds literally thousands of people out of work that are now worried about losing their homes their apartments etcetera and we did it on bogus data. That should be illegal!” he said.
It’s a question we should all be asking our local government leaders.
Nearly a quarter million businesses around the country have been shut down permanently. Millions are unemployed. Churches and schools closed. Our lives have been upended.
And the evidence is mounting that it was not for public safety, rather it was for political gain.
