The Democrats’ election reform bill “is the single most dangerous piece of legislation pending before Congress,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) told the Todd Starnes Radio Show Thursday.
Cruz is leading the fight against H.R.1, the bill before the Senate, which he calls the “Corrupt Politicians Act” for the “most brazen power grab” in the country.
“What the Democrats are seeking to do with the Corrupt Politicians Act is have the federal government takeover elections across this country,” Cruz said. “And they want to do is strike down virtually every voter integrity election law that has been adopted at the state level.”
The conservative senator pointed out the bill would strike down “commonsense” voter ID laws in 29 states, making it illegal to require voter ID.
The Democrats’ bill would also mandate ballot harvesting, a corrupt practice prohibited in 31 states that allows for voter fraud, Cruz explained.
Finally, he says the bill would automatically register millions of illegal aliens, and allow felons and criminals to vote in states where there are restrictions.
“Democrats have determined, I think reasonably, that if millions of illegal aliens and millions of criminals and felons are voting, that they’re likely to vote Democrat,” Cruz said.
“This is all about keeping the Democrats in power for the next 100 years. This is about stealing the right of the people to vote by registering and having millions of people vote illegally to keep Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi in power.”
Cruz said he spent 10 hours battling a markup of the bill earlier this week.
