Mayor Pete Buttigieg says the names of prominent American heroes, like Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson, should be removed from places of honor in our history.

“We’re doing that in Indiana. I think it’s the right thing to do,” the Democrat presidential candidate said on the Hugh Hewitt Radio Show.

Buttigieg was responding to a question about whether Jefferson-Jackson dinners should be renamed because both men were slaveholders.

He called out Jackson with regards to “what basically amounts to genocide that happened here.”

“Jefferson is more problematic,” he said. “There’s a lot to of course, admire in his thinking and his philosophy. Then again, as you plunge into his writings, especially the notes on the state of Virginia, you know that he knew that slavery was wrong.”

So does that mean Buttigieg would consider tearing down the Jefferson Memorial?

“It’s not like we’re blotting him out of the history books, or deleting him from being (a founding father),” he said. “But you know, naming something after somebody confers a certain amount of honor.”

This what I call culture jihad – a leftist movement to destroy America by turning our history into rubble. My new book, “Culture Jihad: How to Stop the Left From Killing a Nation,” addresses this dangerous trend in politics and culture.

Pete Buttigieg portrays himself as a folksy, ‘awe shucks’, small-town mayor, but in reality he’s a culture jihadist who wants to turn American values and traditions into rubble. Click here to pre-order Todd’s book.
