“Well, this is a very significant issue,” Bowser said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “We have for sure called on the federal government to work across state lines to prevent people from really being tricked into getting on buses. We think they’re largely asylum seekers who are going to final destinations that are not Washington, D.C.”

Bowser’s accusation was made in response to a Washington Post report that claims D.C.’s homeless shelters are being overrun by illegals being bussed there from states along the southern border.

CBS host Margaret Brennan pushed back against Bowser’s comments by asking if tax payers should bear the bill for illegals reaching their desired destination.
Bowser asserted that was not the case.

“Local taxpayers are not picking up the tab. They should not pick up the tab. We really need a coordinated federal response. We know that it’s done for refugees who come to the states from all points of the world and the same has to be done in the situation,” Bowser insisted.
While Bowser seemed not to support tax-payer dollars going toward illegals, she never specified who would fit the bill for her proposed “federal response.”
Texas Gov. Greg Abbot made the order to bus illegals the D.C. after localities along the border complained about an influx in migrants crowding their communities, according to Fox News.

Abbot touted the move as a way to show congressional leaders in Washington what their failed border policies are doing to his state.
“Leaders in Congress have no idea about the chaos they have caused by the open border policies and they refuse to come down and see firsthand and talk to the people who are really they’re just dropping bombs of illegal immigrants from countries across the entire globe, leaving those local communities to have to grapple with it,” Abbot said in April according to ABC.
