DC Media Horrified Because Speaker Johnson is Not Multi-Millionaire

Matt Fuller, the DC bureau chief for the Daily Beast, has done a deep dive into House Speaker Mike Johnson’s financial records.

And his investigation turned up some rather shocking things about Speaker Johnson. Turns out the Republican leader has less than $5,000 in his bank account, doesn’t own any stock, and has a home equity loan.

“Mike Johnson doesn’t have any retirement savings, own a single stock, or have any assets at all. He has less than $5,000 in his bank account,” he wrote on. Twitter. “He’s got a 250-500K mortgage, a home equity loan, and a personal loan. So what’s his retirement plan? To lobby?”

In other words, Speaker Johnson is just like most Americans. And that is a bit refreshing.

Maybe Mr. Fuller’s time would be better spent investigating career lawmakers who’ve become multi-millionaires many times over on a $174,000 annual salary.

Nancy Pelosi, for example, is worth more than $100 million dollars. How can she afford to buy all that high-end ice cream on a government salary?

MSNBC’s Jen Psaki delivered one of the most disgusting anti-Christian monologues I’ve heard. She blasted Johnson for having a Christian worldview.

“I am a Bible-believing Christian,” Johnson said. “Someone asked me today in the media, they said, ‘Well, it’s curious. People are curious, what does Mike Johnson think about any issue under the sun?'” he said in the clip. “I said, ‘Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it. That’s my worldview.’”

In response, Psaki snarled, “It’s not just his political ideology that should scare us. Johnson is basically a Christian fundamentalist.”

So, after weeks of Watergate-style reporting, the DC press corps has learned that Speaker Johnson is a born-again Christian who follows the teachings of the Bible, he’s been faithful to his wife, he’s been a man of his word and he lives paycheck-to-paycheck.

Then again, I can see where those values would raise eyebrows in Washington, D.C.
