Democratic New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio announced that New Yorkers who get the coronavirus vaccine booster shot will get $100 as a reward.
The lame duck mayor touted the “biggest booster incentive program in the United States of America” that goes until New Year’s Eve.
“Everyone who has not been vaccinated, it’s time. Everyone who has not gotten that booster, it’s time. This city is ready to make sure everyone gets that booster and that’s the way we move through these challenging few weeks,” de Blasio said. “No more shutdowns. We’ve been through them, they were devasting, we can’t go through it again. We need to all work together these next few weeks.”
He has given other incentives for getting the jab in the past, including free fries from Shake Shack.
This is just the latest prize for coronavirus vaccine recipients, and it probably won’t be the last.
