Former State Rep. Justin Pearson (D) preached a woke sermon on Resurrection Sunday in Memphis just days after being expelled from the Tennessee House.
Pearson, the guest pastor at the First Unitarian Church of Memphis, Church of the River, opened his sermon praying to “Mother God” and his ancestors.
“Woke Preacher Clips” posted highlights from the controversial message.

Pearson said he is not Jesus Christ but compared Gov. Bill Lee (R) to Pontius Pilate.
Many online criticized the sermon as heretical and demonic, including that Pearson politicized the death of six victims at the hands of a transgender shooter to grab guns.

National radio host Todd Starnes accused Pearson’s colleague, former State Rep. Justin Jones (D), who was also expelled, for “spewing heresy.”
Jones tweeted on Easter, “Tennessee Republicans attempt to crucify democracy has resurrected it in the form of mass movement led by young people. That’s what gives me hope.”
Starnes replied, “This man is spewing heresy. He is not Jesus Christ. He has not been crucified. Repent, sir.”
