Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis isn’t falling for the critical race theory curriculum infiltrating public schools across the country.

In a press conference this week, DeSantis said states need to focus on “foundational principles” and avoid viewing everything in America’s history through the lens of race.

Critical race theory has been on the rise in recent years. The movement had a huge boost following the Black Lives Matter protests and riots last summer. The removal of many historical statues have also been part of the movement.

“Let me be clear, there’s no room in our classrooms for things like critical race theory,” DeSantis said.

“Teaching kids to hate their country and to hate each other is not worth one red cent of taxpayer money,” he added. “So we will invest in actual, solid, true curriculum and we will be a leader in the development and implementation of a world-class civics education.”

Florida is just one of the many states fighting critical race theory on the public stage. West Virginia Republican leaders introduced a bill that would ban it from state schools.
