On the Todd Starnes Radio Show, Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-TX) blasted mainstream media “bigots” for not playing Virginia Lt. Gov.-elect Winsome Sears’s victory speech.

“The most poignant race was hers,” said host Todd Starnes. “She is, I mean, again, the daughter of an immigrant. She, herself, an immigrant, brought here to this country as a small child, served in the U.S. Marine Corps. She served the Salvation Army.”

“I really felt like this is-this is who we are and it is not about our skin color it’s not about playing the race card or any other cards,” Starnes continued.” This is about ideas and ideology.”

During her victory speech, Winsome Sears said, “ I’m black and I have been black all my life. But that’s not what this is about.”

“It’s a historic night, yes it is,” Sears continued later. “But I didn’t run to make history, I just wanted to leave it better than I found it.”

According to Congressman Louie Gohmert, neither CNN or MSNBC played Sears’s acceptance speech.

“I was shocked,” said Gohmert. “They must be bigots if they wouldn’t play an incredible speech like that.”

“This is America. This is the America I love,” Gohmert described his reaction to listening to Sears’s speech. “She’s contributed to this country. She’s made the country a better place to live. And yet she’s still willing to put herself out there and go through all the- you put yourself through a lot when you run for office. And she was willing to do that for this country that she loved, that she knew was the land of opportunity. I mean, I was just there going, “Now she’s describing the America I love.” It’s just wonderful. Just wonderful.”

Gohmert then went on to discuss why he thinks a red wave occurred in Virginia and why New Jersey is possibly close to being red.

“You don’t go messing with our kids and saying we can’t participate in their education,” said Gohmert.

“There’s so many aspects, you know, all the shutdowns because 30 years ago, if any mayor or county judge, a state governor or president had said, “You know what? We’re going to shut down your business and your business and your business because we got this pandemic going and you can’t go to church, people would not have stood for it,” said Gohmert.

“People would not have stood for it. But it tells you how far we’ve gotten away from appreciating the freedoms that our constitution gives us that people would be sheep for so long. But it looks like they’re sheep no more.”

Below is a rushed transcript of Rep. Louie Gohmert’s interview on the Todd Starnes Show:

STARNES: [00:42:32] Congressman Louie Gohmert on the Patriot mobile newsmaker line in the Liberty University Studios. I want to play some audio for you about her, about who she is and and what she is really all about. Cut 13. [00:42:44][11.8]

SEARS: [00:42:49] I’m black and I have been black all my life. But that’s not what this is about. [00:43:01][12.0]

STARNES: [00:43:03] No, it’s not. It’s not about skin color, it’s about ideas and it’s about ideas and ideology. That’s what it’s about. I want to go to the Patriot mobile newsmaker line. We’re so honored to have with us from the great state of Texas, an American patriot himself, Congressman Louie Gohmert. Congressman, how do you feel about what happened yesterday? [00:43:21][18.3]

Speaker 3: [00:43:23] Well, first to say you’re honored to have me on Todd, I’m just overwhelmed that you’re honored to have me on. So that’s a pretty great feeling. But last night, wow, what a treat. That was so wonderful. I got to confess I was a little concerned when McAuliffe, of basically did concede and in essence was saying, Yeah, we got to go get more votes and bring them in. I thought-We’re going to have three days of just pulling suitcases out from under tables. And oh, here’s the new ballots. And oh yeah, youngkin’s are not really governor, and then we get into that fight all over again. But but now I heard on the radio this morning that CNN and MSNBC did not play Winsome Sears great acceptance speech. I was shocked. They must be bigots if they wouldn’t play an incredible speech like that. [00:44:21][58.4]

STARNES: [00:44:22] You know, it’s for me, congressman, and I know that we’ll talk about New Jersey in just a minute. But for me, the most poignant race was hers. She is, I mean, again, the daughter of of of an immigrant. She, herself, an immigrant, brought here to this country as a small child, served in the U.S. Marine Corps. She served the Salvation Army. She is a great patriot and then for her to come out and and to deliver this incredible speech, and we’re going to be playing some audio from this later on. I really felt like this is this is who we are and it is not about our skin color it it’s not about playing the race card or any other cards. This is about ideas and ideology. [00:45:01][38.8]

Speaker 3: [00:45:02] Yeah, yeah. And I was sitting there listening  last night thinking the exact same thing. Hope that didn’t scare you, Todd. We were thinking this, but I was thinking, This is America. This is the America I love. And I mean, for her to come and you know, she talked about her dad, what? He had a dollar in something, but he worked so hard and then she comes in and she’s been a marine. She’s contributed to this country. She’s made the country a better place to live. And yet she’s still willing to put herself out there and go through all the the, all that a lot. When you put yourself out there as a candidate, and she was willing to do that for this country that she loved, that she knew was the land of opportunity. I mean, I was just there going. Now she’s describing the America I love. It’s just wonderful. Just wonderful. [00:45:59][56.7]

STARNES: [00:46:00] And congressman, of course. And a lot of this is not getting covered in the national news. But this was a sweeping victory for Republicans. They won all three of the major positions their governor, lieutenant governor, ousting the incumbent Democrat from the attorney general. Now the Republicans are in full control of the House of Delegates. And then when you look at New Jersey, where they still don’t know who won that race and the running joke was they actually Phil Murphy ran ads congressman, making fun of the fact that nobody knew who Jack Ciattarelli was. They know now. [00:46:33][33.4]

Speaker 3: [00:46:33] Yeah. Yes, they do. They do that. It was amazing to yes, in New Jersey. And I got to say my chief of staff lives in Arlington, and she has been telling me, I know we’re blue and all that, but I’m telling you this election. People are going to be shocked because everything I’m hearing and it’s things you’ve been talking about. You don’t go messing with our kids and saying we can’t participate in their education. There’s so many aspects, you know, all the shutdowns because, you know, 30 years ago, if any mayor or county judge, a state governor or president had said, You know what? We’re going to shut down your business and your business and your business because we got this pandemic going and you can’t go to church. We’re not going to allow the church. People would not have stood for it. But it tells you how far we’ve gotten away from appreciating the freedoms that our constitution gives us that people would be sheep for so long. But it looks like they’re sheep no more. [00:47:47][73.7]

STARNES: [00:47:48] And by the way, folks. Congressman Louie Gohmert on the Patriot mobile newsmaker line. Congressman, Joe Biden is completely gone silent. We don’t know where he is. We think he’s back in the country, not too sure about that, we just we haven’t heard anything from the president. And I’m wondering, what was this all about? Was this a referendum on the Democrats? Was this a referendum on Joe Biden? [00:48:13][25.3]

GOHMERT: [00:48:15] I think it was all of the above. But but yeah, it includes Joe Biden. He’s been part of the problem. When you look what he’s done to the economy and what he has done to jobs in America and and the inflation is it. Now I’m not hearing anybody that’s not bothered by the inflation that this administration has created. But then again, you’re presuming, and we’re not supposed to do that, you’re not supposed to assume or presume, but you’re presuming that Biden’s awake. And that may be an unfair presumption, though, [00:48:57][41.4]

STARNES: [00:48:57] that that is a fact. That is pretty fair, though I was pretty fair congressman, when you know, we got a call in the last hour from a guy charged from Memphis, and he was concerned, he said. You know, he he’s afraid that maybe the Democrats are going to try to get some payback by pushing through the massive infrastructure bill, the spending bill. What are what are you hearing? What is the mood up on Capitol Hill? [00:49:22][24.5]

GOHMERT: [00:49:23] Well, the way it sounds here on Capitol Hill is that Democrats have got to tread very, very lightly because, you know, you know, there are a lot of talk about what happened to Senator Sinema. You know, the Democrat wackos that follow her in the bathroom and just raising Cain with her. And they’ve been doing the same thing to Manchin, just, you know, giving him hell. Let me remind you of what happened when Joe Lieberman was an independent. But you’re allowed if you’re an independent in the Senate, you caucus with whichever party you want to bully, caucus with the Democratic Party. But he was catching flack. The story goes he was catching flack for a position they wouldn’t get on board with the Democrats strongly enough. And at that point, the votes were 51 Democrat, 49, so they had the majority. And the legend is that, Joe said. Let me ask, so if I decide as an independent to caucus with the Republicans, are you still majority leader? The Democrats still have the gavels. And the answer is no. If we make you mad and you move your desk to the other side of the aisle, every gavel that’s currently in the Democrats’ hand goes to a Republican end. And so, so they have to be a little bit tenuous over there in the Senate. You put too much heat on either Manchin or Sinema. All they got to do is say, You know what? I’m going to caucus with these guys because they’ve been nice to me. And that ends the Democrat majority. It ends all the Democratic chair chairs, and that is it is what’s really at risk politically here on the hill. [00:51:21][118.3]

STARNES: [00:51:22] And and you know, that is something that a lot of folks are not talking about in the mainstream media. And that is a fair point because maybe that is why they’re trying to go soft with the negotiations is they don’t want them to do that because, you know, Biden, they are. They’re not stupid. You know, I know he’s asleep, but he’s not stupid and they can see through all of this. Well, congressman, look, we always appreciate having you on the program. And I look, I I think this is a great way, a great launching point towards 2022 and we’re just going to have to fight is going to be a long, hard fight, but we got to fight. [00:51:55][33.4]

GOHMERT: [00:51:57] And don’t forget, we’re still fighting to try to wipe Biden up to the fact that the American people don’t make $450000, you know, the huge majority. And if the average salary last year was $53000, so somebody’s paying 20 percent tax on that would have to work and pay their federal income tax for 42 and a half years just to pay off one illegal immigrants $450000. People are not buying that. No, I’m happy about that even being discussed, but it’s still being discussed. [00:52:35][38.5]

STARNES: [00:52:36] You know, I was with President Trump on Monday down at Mar a Lago, and we were doing an interview for for my next book. And I asked him his reaction when he heard about that, and he said he thought it was a joke. He thought there’s no way the Democrats would go down that path. I mean, this is this is really appalling when you look at what the average American is making congressman. And then we’re basically going To turn these illegal alien families into overnight millionaires. [00:53:02][25.9]

GOHMERT: [00:53:03] Yeah. Their first act in the United States was to was to commit a crime by coming in the country illegally. So we’re going to instantly reward that with $450000. Of course, they’ve talked about even more than that, but that is nuts.. And I think some of that was reflected in the vote yesterday. [00:53:22][19.0]

STARNES: [00:53:24] Yeah, I think you’re right. I think you’re right. All right, congressman, we’re going to have to leave it there. Lou GOhmert, always [00:53:29][5.2]

GOHMERT: [00:53:30] good to be with you. [00:53:30][0.4]

STARNES: [00:53:30] The great American Patriot. All right, congressman, good hearing from you and also a good fellow Baptist, by the way. But yeah, the congressman’s fired up over those $450000 payments to the to the families of the illegals. [00:53:43][12.1]
