President Biden is considering declaring a public health emergency if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, according to the New York Times.
The declaration would reportedly allow doctors to perform abortions on federal sites, such as military bases, in states where abortion is banned.
It would also shield doctors from legal liability for abortions on patients in states where they are not licensed, according to the report.
Biden recently warned that overturning Roe would cause a “mini-revolution” across the country and has signaled that he would use the executive branch.
“It’s just ridiculous in my view and I don’t think the country will stand for it, but I think what we’re going to have to do, there’s some executive orders I could employ, we believe, we’re looking at that right now,” Biden said.
