President Biden is looking at sinking poll numbers ahead of his State of the Union address Tuesday, but worse yet, the majority of Americans think he is mentally unfit, according to a new poll.
The latest Washington Post/ABC News poll posted Biden’s lowest job approval at 37 percent since he took office in 2021.
More than half, 54 percent, of respondents said Biden does not have the “mental sharpness” to be president, while 40 percent said he does.
When Biden was a presidential candidate more than half, 51 percent, said he did have the “mental sharpness” to be commander-in-chief, while 43 percent said he did not.
A majority of Independents, 59 percent, said Biden does not have the mental capacity to be president, a rise of 13 points since May 2020.
The poll, conducted from February 20 to 24, also asked 1,011 random adults in the U.S., if Biden was a strong leader. Fifty-nine percent said no and 36 percent said he was.
These numbers do not look good for Democrats just ahead of Biden’s address to the nation or with the midterms coming up in November.
