Just six Senate Republicans voted to advance the January 6 commission:
• Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH)
• Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE)
• Bill Cassidy (R-LA)
• Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
• Mitt Romney (R-UT)
• Susan Collins (R-ME)
The legislation needed 60 votes Friday to overcome a GOP filibuster, but Republicans successfully blocked it with a vote of 54 to 35.
