Not everyone is celebrating the glass ceiling smashed by Virginia Lt. Gov.-elect Wismone Sears. One MSNBC commentator attacked the black conservative lawmaker for being a puppet for white supremacists.
During an interview with MSNBC’s Joy Reid, Michael Eric Dyson, a sociology professor at Georgetown University, went so far as to call the black female politician just a “black face.”
“They want white supremacy by ventriloquism,” said Dyson. “There is a black mouth but a white idea running on the runway of the tongue of a figure who justifies and legitimates the white supremacist practices.”
“We know that we can internalize in our own minds, in our own sub-conscience and in our bodies the very principles that our undoing us. So to have a black face speaking in behalf of a white supremacy legacy is nothing new,” he added.
