House Republicans were fined $500 on Tuesday. The crime: Refusing to wear masks.
Three Republican lawmakers face $500 fines for defying Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s mask mandate on the House floor during votes on Tuesday: Brian Mast (R-FL), Beth Van Duyne (R-TX) and Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), USA Today reports.
“Nancy Pelosi is a tyrant,” Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) told the Todd Starnes Radio Show. “For her to have this fear factor of making us wear masks…It’s been a year and a half, and most of the congressmen, including me, have been vaccinated.”
Norman and seven other Republican lawmakers were issued warnings: Thomas Massie (R-KY), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Majorie Taylor Green (R-GA), Chip Roy (R-TX), Bob Good (R-VA), Mary Miller (R-IL) and Louie Gohmert (R-TX).
Norman slammed Pelosi’s mask double standard. “It’s hypocrisy at its worst,” Norman said, citing the House Speaker’s visit to a California hair salon without a face mask, violating CDC guidelines. “Here she is doing this to us and she doesn’t abide by her own rules anyway.”
The South Carolina Representative claimed Pelosi is using scare tactics to divert attention away from President Biden’s failures.

“A growing number of us have just said ‘enough’s enough. We’re tired of it.” Norman said.
Mast, who is also fully vaccinated, was approached by a staff member of the House Sergeant of Arms during votes and refused to put a mask on, according to USA Today.
“The scientists at the CDC are telling us if you are fully vaccinated, you can go about your life without wearing a mask of physically distancing,” Mast later said in a statement. “So, that’s what I”m doing. The question people should be asking is why is Speaker Pelosi not? For her, this has never been about science, it’s always been about power and control over the American people.”
“Best $500 I ever spent,” Mast told reporters Tuesday. Future violations by these lawmakers could reach $2,500.
However, Pelosi was spotted in a video posted Thursday without a mask on at the White House.
