The National Education Association (NEA), the nation’s largest union, proposed a resolution to change “mother” to “birthing person” in contracts to be more inclusive.
“Using this contract language, members need not worry about how a Board of Education/solicitor defines ‘maternity leave,’ ‘mother,’ and/or ‘father’; the language is an inclusive reflection of how LGBTQIA+ members build families,” the proposed resolution reads.
The resolution was brought forward by the NEA’s Representative Assembly (RA) which consists of around 6,000 educators from around the country, according to Fox News.
The proposed item ultimately did not meet the qualifications to be voted on by the RA. Education Week reported that a resolution must have at least 50 sponsors to be brought to the floor for debate and a vote.
The proposed resolution incited outrage among conservatives in the education field.
“They are arrogant. They are dismissive of the family, the parents. It’s beyond Orwellian. Even in science fiction, I don’t know if you can have such a script of complete destruction of human society,” No Left Turn In Education’s Elana Fishbein said in response to the item.
This is not the NEA’s first assault on family and traditional values.
The union supported President Biden in the 2020 election, Additionally, the NEA’s president, Becky Pringle, often promotes the radical left’s agenda to America’s educators.
In a press release following the overturn of Roe v. Wade, Pringle said, “This decision strips away from millions across race, place and gender identities, the right to make their own health care decisions and about when and how to have a family.”
Additionally, Pringle has spoken out in support of gun control and allowing teachers to groom young children with the left’s sexual ideology.
“This November, if you get in the way of our progress toward a more just nation, we will get in the way of your election,” Pringle said after condemning politicians who support 2nd Amendment rights, according to Business Insider.
Further, in response to Florida’s “Parental Rights in Education” law dubbed by the left the “Don’t Say Gay Bill,” Pringle said, “We will say gay. We will say trans.”
