President Trump Holds a “Come to Jesus Meeting” at National Prayer Breakfast

OPINION

President Trump held a “Come to Jesus Meeting” during his remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast — calling out politicians who have weaponized their religious faith.

“As everybody knows, my family, our great country, and your president have been put through a terrible ordeal by some very dishonest and corrupt people,” the president said. “They have done everything possible to destroy us and by so doing, very badly hurt our nation. They know what they are doing is wrong, but they put themselves far ahead of our great country.”

He did not name names, but he was clearly referring to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Pierre Delecto (D-UT).

Pelosi once said that she prayed for the president daily. Allegedly.

“I don’t like people who use their faith as justification for doing what they know is wrong nor do I like people who say, ‘I pray for you,’ when they know that’s not so. So many people have been hurt and we can’t let that go on,” Trump said.

The president was right to call out the behavior of lawmakers who claim to be followers of Christ.
