A retired marine colonel is urging the military to reverse its WOKE policies, like embracing transgenderism, to avoid more situations like Ukraine and Afghanistan.
Col. Mitchell Swan, who is running for Georgia’s 10th congressional district as a Republican, believes the “social experimentation” under President Biden is projecting weakness to our enemies.
“America’s reputation as the worlds strongest, most courageous fighting force was developed by more than two centuries of inherent American military culture, not American woke culture,” Swan tweeted Friday.
The 30-year veteran of the Marine Corps is described as a “warrior for both Christ and the Corps” on his campaign website.
“Colonel Swan is an unashamed conservative fighter and a firm believer in the principles of smaller government, secure borders, and an America First agenda that prioritizes our Christian heritage over social/political correctness,” his biography states.
The Republican candidate takes issue with Biden’s restoration of an Obama administration policy allowing transgender individuals to serve with the gender they identify with, a reversal from under President Trump.
“Allowing transgender individuals to serve sends a message to our adversaries that we are more focused on social experimentation than on the defense of our nation,” Swan told Fox News Digital’s Tyler O’Neil.
Swan said serving in the military “is not a right” which is why the military has “strict ‘selective service’ standards.”
“In fact, many individuals with certain conditions, such as bedwetting and sleepwalking are disqualified from military service,” he said in a statement. “They are not disqualified because they are bad people, but because these symptoms are considered mental and emotional issues that are not conducive to combat environments. Gender dysphoria is no different and should be treated the same; that it is not conducive to enhancing military performance or unit morale.”
He stressed that the military needs to recruit members who can be ready at any time.
“The military cannot afford to recruit a transgender individual who will need mental and physical attention over someone who is ready to fight from day one,” Swan told Fox.
