A Fox News poll found that 50 percent of Americans think the Senate should vote to convict and remove President Trump. Only 44 percent of voters say the president should remain in office.
“For comparison, around the time former President Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial began in January 1999, some 38 percent said the Senate should remove him from office, and 65 percent approved of the job he was doing as president,” Fox News Channel’s Dana Blanton wrote.
Elizabeth Harrington, a national spokesperson for the RNC, blasted the Fox News poll during an appearance on the Todd Starnes Radio Show.
Starnes: Liz, we’ve got about 60 seconds here – a Fox news poll out – they say 50 percent of American voters want the president convicted and removed from office. Your reaction to the Fox News poll.
Harrington: Fox has been all over the place with these polls. It has not been accurate whatsoever. Look at all the swing state polling.
Sean Davis, the co-founder of The Federalist, wondered, “What on earth is going on in the latest Fox News poll?”
Red State also questioned the polling in a story titled, “Fox News Polls Have Become Hilariously Bad Outliers.”
“Over the past year or so, their polls have become one of the consistent bright spots for Democrats. This leads to lots of chortling about how ‘even Fox News’ is showing bad news for Republicans, as if their polls previously favored Republicans (they really didn’t). The problem is that the results they’ve been putting out are so far removed from every other pollster that they’ve established an absolutely massive house effect in favor of Democrats,” Red State wrote.
