The Biden State Department added mandatory pronouns to official emails Thursday and is misgendering people, according to an Associated Press reporter.
AP diplomatic writer Matt Lee asked State Department spokesman Vedant Patel about adding mandatory pronouns to the “from” line on all State emails.
Lee pointed out it is not an optional thing and many men were identified as women and women identified as men.
“This is not an optional thing,” he said. “This is something that has been arbitrarily imposed.”
“But the problem is that a lot of them, or at least some of them, so far as I’ve been able to tell, are wrong. They’re giving the wrong pronouns. So men are being identified as women and women as men.”
He added, “and this has nothing to do with transgender or anything like that. It’s ridiculous.”
Patel seemed annoyed in his response, sarcastically responding, “Happy Thursday.”

Secretary of State Antony Blinken celebrated International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia on Wednesday with an official tweet.
“On International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia we call for an end to harmful conversion therapy practices, including those that attempt to change a person’s sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or sex characteristics,” Blinken said.
The State Department seems to be violating its own policy by not apologizing for misgendering people.
A taxpayer-funded United States Agency for International Development (USAID) program instructs journalists to never “assume another person’s gender identity or their gender pronouns” and to “apologize if you called someone by the wrong pronoun.”
