Former President Trump took to Truth Social to announce that he will be traveling to New York City Monday to prepare for his arraignment Tuesday.
“I will be leaving Mar-a-Lago on Monday at 12 noon, heading to Trump Tower in New York,” Trump wrote. “On Tuesday morning I will be going to, believe it or not, the Courthouse. America was not supposed to be this way!”
The details of the case against the 2024 Republican presidential candidate are sealed until after his arraignment. But the charges are expected to be related to an alleged hush money payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election.
Trump has continually claimed he is innocent and is calling Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against him a “witch hunt.”
In another Truth Social post, Trump called Bragg “corrupt” and insisted this will not be a fair trial.
“The Corrupt D.A. has no case,” the former president wrote. “What he does have is a venue where it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to get a Fair Trial (it must be changed!), and a Trump Hating Judge, hand selected by the Soros backed D.A. (he must be changed!). Also has the DOJ working in the D.A.’s Office – Unprecedented!”
Trump is expected to arrive at the 100 Centre Street Courthouse in NYC at around 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Fox News reports.
The entire building will be cleared, and no other business will be done at the location until Trump’s arraignment concludes. The process is expected to take less than 30 minutes. Trump will be read his charges and will enter his plea.
Trump’s attorney has said he will likely push for the charges to be dismissed.
Fox also reports the former president will most likely not be placed in handcuffs or be forced to do a “perp walk.”
Trump is the first president in American history to face criminal charges.
