TRUMP: My Pro-Life Beliefs Are Just Like Reagan’s

President Trump today released a series of messages affirming his position on the pro-life movement after massive backlash from Evangelical Christian leaders and disciples of Ron DeSantis.

The pro-DeSantis activists have been pummeling Trump supporters on social media, accusing them of being pro-abortion and anti-Christianity. They are basically trying to bully and silence especially pro-life Christians who are backing the former president.

Their behavior has, quite frankly, been disgusting and un-Christ-like.

Trump came under fire after a disastrous interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” where he called Florida’s six-week abortion ban a “terrible thing and a terrible mistake.” Trump went on to say that he would find a solution with which “both sides will be happy.”

Focus on the Family, Live Action and Family Research Council were among the conservative groups that expressed concern about the former president’s remarks.

Kristen Waggoner, CEO of the conservative legal organization Alliance Defending Freedom, also took issue.

“Laws protecting the unborn are not a ‘terrible mistake.’ They are the hallmark of a just and moral society,” she wrote on X. “Governors who protect life should be applauded, not attacked.”

In response, Trump reminded conservatives of the work he did that lead to the end of Roe v. Wade.

“I was able to do something that nobody thought was possible, end Roe v. Wade. For 52 years, people talked, spent vast amounts of money, but couldn’t get the job done. I got the job done,” he wrote on Truth Social. “Thanks to the three great Supreme Court Justices I appointed, this issue has been returned to the States, where all Legal Scholars, on both sides, felt it should be. Now the Pro Life Community has TREMENDOUS NEGOTIATING POWER.”

Trump also pointed out the politics involved in the issue — which is an important thing to consider.

Since Roe v. Wade ended pro-lifers have lost ballot-box battles in five states – two of which were rock-solid pro-life states. And there is general consensus among political pundits that the abortion issues drove voters to the ballot box in the midterms — crushing what Republicans had expected would be a red wave.

“Like Ronald Reagan before me, I believe in the three exceptions for Rape, Incest, and the Life of the Mother,” Trump wrote. “Without the exceptions, it is very difficult to win Elections, we would probably lose the Majorities in 2024, and perhaps the Presidency itself, but you must follow your HEART! In order to win in 2024, Republicans must learn how to talk about Abortion. This issue cost us unnecessarily, but dearly, in the Midterms.”
