Former President Trump is making it clear: Don’t trust professional Republican fundraisers using his name and likeness.
“Send your donation to Save America PAC at DonaldJTrump.com,” Trump wrote in a statement to reporters. “We will bring it all back stronger than ever before!”
The Republican leader sent a cease and desist letter to the RNC, NRCC, and NRSC demanding they stop using his name and likeness to raise money and sell merchandise.
“No more money for RINOS,” Trump added. “They do nothing but hurt the Republican Party and our great voting base—they will never lead us to Greatness.”
A Trump adviser told Politico Friday the former president “remains committed to the Republican Party and electing America First conservatives, but that doesn’t give anyone – friend or foe – permission to use his likeness without explicit approval.”
The RNC, however, on Monday argued they have a constitutional right to use his likeness because he is a public figure.
In the letter, RNC chief counsel Justin Riemer said Trump “reaffirmed” they could use his likeness for fundraising purposes with RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel, Breitbart reported.
In his address to the Conservative Political Action Conference in February, Trump blasted RINOs, naming names and adding: “Get rid of them all!”
