Former President Trump called Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) an “absolutely terrible candidate” who has been “disloyal” to the Republican Party.
Trump previously endorsed Mace but said in a statement Monday night that her “remarks and attitude have been devastating for her community, and not at all representative” of the GOP.
Instead, the 45th president gave his full endorsement to Mace’s primary challenger, Katie Arrington, whom he said is “like and respected and a true Republican.”
“Katie is strong on the Military, our great Vets, Law Enforcement, the Border, and will fight very hard for our under-siege Second Amendment and Lower Taxes,” he said.
Trump added, “Katie is a wonderful woman and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”
Arrington announced her candidacy Sunday in a video posted to Twitter.
“Let’s be honest. Nancy Mace is a sellout. She sold out the Lowcountry. She sold out President Trump,” Arrington said. “She is more interested in becoming a mainstream media celebrity than fighting for the people she is supposed to represent.”
Mace criticized Trump for January 6th, saying any of his accomplishments “were wiped out in just a few short hours.”
