Tulsi Gabbard Sends Cease and Desist Letters to Romney, Olbermann on Russia Comments

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has sent cease and desist letters to Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and TV host Keith Olbermann over “false, defamatory and malicious” statements they made asserting Gabbard was “parroting false Russian propaganda” and a Russian asset who needed to be detained.

“Truth is the first casualty of war,” Gabbard said in a statement released by her press team. “When powerful, influential people make baseless accusations of treason, a crime punishable by death, in order to intimidate, silence and censor those who speak the truth, it has a chilling effect on our democracy. This cannot go unchecked.”

Romney on March 13 said Gabbard was “parroting false Russian propaganda” and that her “treasonous lies may well cost lives.”

He was referring to a video Gabbard posted where she spoke about “25 to 30” U.S. funded labs that “if breached would release & spread deadly pathogens to US/world.” Claims that the U.S. is funding Ukrainian labs developing chemical and biological weapons have been connected to Russian propaganda outlets.

Gabbard at the time demanded Romney resign and said he should provide proof that there are no U.S. funded labs in Ukraine.

“So, Senator Romney, you have a choice: out of pride, continue to deny the truth or admit you are wrong, apologize, and resign,” Gabbard said, in concluding the thread. “Aloha. And remember that without the truth, we can be neither safe nor free.”

Olbermann around the same time suggested that Gabbard – and Tucker Carlson – should both be arrested and tried by the military.

“They are Russian Assets and there is a war,” he said. “There’s a case for detaining them militarily. Trials are a sign of good faith and patience on the part of democracy.” Read more at Newsmax.
