Fox News Radio host Todd Starnes delivered a fiery monologue — demanding to know from lawmaker how many more Americans will have to be killed before lawmakers get serious about securing the border.
“Mollie Tibbetts is dead because of our broken immigration system,” Starnes said as he began the opening monologue of his nationally-syndicated radio show. “Democrats consider Americans killed by illegals on American soil to be collateral damage.”
Tibbetts, a native of Iowa, had been missing since late July, and her disappearance had become caught the attention of the nation. Her body was found earlier this week and Cristhian Rivera, 24, an illegal immigrant has been charged with first degree murder in connection with her death.
“What happened to this family is unacceptable, what happened to the family of Kate Steinle is unacceptable,” Starnes said, referencing the 2015 murder of California native Steinle, who was also killed by an illegal alien.
“When President Trump took the escalator down Trump Tower to announce his presidency, and he caught holy you-know-what because he said that rapists and murderers and very bad people were coming across the border,” Starnes said. “He was told he was a liar.”
“Well now we know the president, sadly, was correct,” he continued. “We have all of the statistics, we have all of the data, and now ladies and gentlemen, we have the body of a dead American in an Iowa cornfield.”
Starnes revealed to his listeners that Rivera had been hired by an Iowa farmer, who happened to be a “prominent establishment Republican.”
“These Republicans want cheap labor,” the Fox Radio host said, noting that the president was the only one standing up on the issue of securing the border, and that that was “why the establishment Republicans are giving him such a difficult time.”
Starnes blasted Republican and Democrat lawmakers alike for their inaction on border security, saying that Tibbetts would be alive today if Republicans and Democrats “had just bothered to secure the border.”
Playing a clip of MSNBC guest and Fordham University professor Christina Greer called Tibbetts “some girl in Iowa,” Starnes ripped Greer’s insensitive remarks and said that what Greer really meant to say was “some white girl in Iowa.”
Greer has since deleted her Twitter account and walked back her remarks, calling them “flippant” and “unintended.”
“It’s shameful that we allowed another American citizen to be murdered on American soil by an illegal alien invader,” Starnes continued. “I’m sick of it and I’m disgusted at our lawmakers, Republican and Democrat who are fighting our president.”
Starnes called on his listeners to “hold our elected leaders accountable,” saying that “we have an obligation” to do so.
“They promised to secure the border,” he said. “They promised to defend American sovereignty, they promised to build the wall, and they must make good on that promise. And I say this, no more American blood spilled on American soil by an illegal alien, not anymore. No more.”
