Jesse Kelly, the host of “The Jesse Kelly Show” on Memphis’ KWAM, created a viral hashtag over the weekend when he called on Yale, the prestigious Ivy League school in New Haven, Conn., to change its name due to the fact that it’s named after a treacherous slave trader named Elihu Yale.
Kelly tweeted Saturday that the school should “change its name immediately and strip the name of Yale from every building, piece of paper, and merchandise. Otherwise, they hate Black people. #CancelYale.”
The New Haven Register reported that the tweet from the Iraq War veteran went viral. The school’s director of media relations declined to comment when reached by the paper. The paper also reported that Kelly asked Hillary Clinton, “Why did you attend Yale University when it’s named after a slave trader?”
Kelly told the “Todd Starnes Radio Show” Monday that this man “was an actual slave trader. This man had black people stuffed into the bowels of ships – dying, crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Yale is still named after this man. There is no worse monument to racism and slavery in America than the name Yale. That name should be removed from every Yale building; everyone with a Yale diploma should put it in a paper shredder; everyone who has a diploma from there should issue a public apology; Yales’s endowment should be seized and redistributed to black people; and Yale should either be completely leveled or should become an all-black college for the next 300 years for what they did before.”

Kelly brought up the topic amid the surging demand from protesters to topple statues across the U.S. due to the subjects’ racist pasts. The most recent target is the famous Teddy Roosevelt statue outside New York City’s Museum of Natural History, which will be coming down.
Kelly told the radio program that, although Yale is the most egregious, other top schools across the country also have deep ties to racism and slavery. He pointed to Brown University, which was founded by a slave trader, he said “Duke has an ugly past.” William Marsh Rice, the founder of Rice University said, in his will, that the school should be for whites only.
Kelly identified these schools due to the fact that the left mob is ravenous in its desire to erase the country’s history, but should look in the mirror.
“The most ridiculous thing anyone can possibly think of, they’re coming for that next,” Kelly said. “Because these people are all leftists and leftism is not a political ideology. It is a religion of destruction.”
