Somewhere in America at this very moment – a first grader is doing something that could be held against him in a future Supreme Court nomination.
We are in a very bad place in American politics – where rumor and innuendo trump the rule of law.
The latest victim is Judge Brett Kavanaugh – a good and decent man who is a loving father and faithful husband.
The New Yorker published a scurrilous report Sunday night alleging Kavanaugh engaged in sexual misconduct during his freshman year at Yale.
There are reports Democrats had become aware of the woman’s story and had been pitching it to a number of anti-Trump news organizations.
“She came forward because Senate Democrats came looking for this claim. She did not flag this,” writer Ronan Farrow told ABC News. “This came to the attention of people on the hill independently, and it has co cornered her into an awkward position. She said, point-blank, I don’t want to ruin anyone’s life, but she feels this is a serious claim. She considers her own memories credible and she felt it was important to tell her own story before others did for her.”
The New York Times refused to report the story because they could not find anyone to corroborate the woman’s accusations.
President Trump dismissed the latest allegations.
“I am with Judge Kavanaugh,” Trump declared. “For people to come out of the woodwork from thirty-six years ago, and thirty years ago, and never mentioned it, all of a sudden it happened … totally political.”
Clearly – this is yet another attempt by Democrats to destroy this good man’s name. They will stop at nothing to bring down the Trump presidency. And their tactics are despicable.
Maybe it’s time for the Justice Department to investigate whether Democrats are strong-arming women into fabricating allegations against Judge Kavanaugh.

But it’s the invertebrate Republicans who bear also large part of the blame.
Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley has capitulated to the Democrats — time and again. Deadlines have come and gone without any ramifications.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein has called for an immediate postponement of the confirmation hearing. In response, Chairman Grassley should call for an immediate vote.
It’s time to put a stop to the lies and the smears and the bullying. The politics of personal destruction must end.
