Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, told the “Todd Starnes Show” on Friday that he was troubled by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ recent comment that, if elected, they would mandate mask-wearing in the U.S. for at least three months in order to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
VICTORY IN CALIFORNIA: MACARTHUR CAN HOLD INDOOR SERVICE
Huckabee joked that even though he’s been told he looks far better when most of his face is covered, it seems Biden is unfamiliar with the U.S. Constitution when it comes to what the president can and can’t enforce.
“I don’t recall anything in the constitution that would give a president the power to do that. That should be a decision, if there’s one going to be made, at the local level. That’s called the Tenth Amendment. Joe might want to read that sometime.”

Todd Starnes, the host of the radio show, pointed out other examples of recent government overreaches during the pandemic, including Tennessee’s decision to order at-home “Wellbeing Checks” on every child in the state and California’s relentless attacks on churches.
KEEP IT MOVING: NO QUESTIONS FOR BIDEN, HARRIS
Huckabee pointed to the faithful in California who seem to have had enough of Gov. Gavin Newsom determining when they can and cannot praise God. He pointed to Godspeak Calvary Church in Thousand Oaks, Calif., and said the attendance there has been surging in recent weeks.
He said people in the U.S. need to be mindful of others and take the proper precautions, but “we don’t need to surrender our fundamental liberties to an overreaching government goon like Gavin Newsom.”
He said states like California have been hypocritical throughout the outbreak and pointed to their treatment of casinos and places of worship. He said Newsom determined that singing and chanting in churches are off-limits, but if you “want to roll the dice, knock yourself out.”

The interview with Huckabee was wide-ranging. Starnes mentioned the 2020 election and Biden’s selection of Harris as his running mate. Starnes said he believed questions about Harris’ background and her ability to run as vice president are misguided and believed most Americans are going to be voting with their pocketbooks.
Huckabee said Harris is “proof positive” that the U.S. is the land of great opportunity. He noted her personal achievements as becoming Attorney General for California, a U.S. senator and vice-presidential nominee.
“But I think she’s gone far enough,” Huckabee joked. “We’ll just let her be the nominee.”
