Mercedes Schlapp, a Trump campaign senior adviser, told the “Todd Starnes Show” on Wednesday that Sen. Kamala Harris’ hostility towards Catholics in the past has been “very alarming” and concern any person of faith in the country.

Schlapp said that Harris, who was just tapped by Joe Biden to be his running mate in 2020, has pushed for a “religious litmus test for Catholic judges.”
The National Review published an article online titled, “Kamala Harris’s Anti-Catholic Bigotry,” and took the senator to task for believing that “Catholics are unfit to serve in our nation’s courts.”
DOUG COLLINS: WHY IS BIDEN ALWAYS IN THE BASEMENT?
The conservative magazine pointed to a question that Harris submitted to Brian Buescher in 2018 during his effort to become a district judge in Nebraska.
Harris asked Buescher if he was “aware that the Knights of Columbus opposed a woman’s right to choose when you joined the organization?”
The article said the California Democrat “used Buescher’s membership in the Knights of Columbus as a pretext to insinuate that opposition to abortion, a core component of Catholic teaching on the dignity and value of human life, disqualifies an individual from the bench.”

The Federalist also criticized Harris’ questioning and quoted the First Amendment, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” Yet Harris and Hirono stated that a federal nominee must renounce his religious beliefs in order to be confirmed.
Schlapp, who is Catholic, told Starnes that Harris’ treatment of Buescher must be considered by Catholic voters in the U.S.
Todd Starnes, the host of the radio show, said it is hard to find someone who is more “extreme” in the Democrat Party than Harris.
Schlapp said that it is clear that Biden has no intention of pretending to run a center-left campaign. She pointed to GovTrack.us, which identified Harris as the “most liberal” senator in 2019. Fox News reported that Bernie Sanders and Kirsten Gillibrand completed the left’s trifecta.
Schlapp pointed out that being crowned “most liberal” in D.C. is no easy task, but pointed to legislation that Harris co-sponsored that includes socialized medicine that “would eliminate over 160 million health insurance plans.”
Schlapp said Harris has “extreme” views on abortion
“She’s going to take her liberal, far-left agenda and try to implement it to all of America by supporting and being on the ticket with Joe Biden,” Schlapp said.
