THE THIRD HOUR OF THE TODD STARNES SHOW

2:05pm – Survey Says? A teacher who issued a quiz to middle school students in Hopewell, Virginia, was criticized by parents who deemed the content inappropriate, according to CBS-affiliate WTVR Monday. The school later claimed the test wasn’t part of the curriculum. Parents at Carter G. Woodson Middle School said that a teacher assigned the “Family Quiz” worksheet to young students Friday. The quiz included subject matter not suitable for children, the parents claimed. One of the questions on the test read, “What do you call the much younger and beautiful wife of an older wealthy man?” The answer was “trophy wife.” Another question read: “What do you call the much younger boyfriend of an older woman,” with the answer being “boy toy.”

UPDATES:

1:05pm- M(o)ore Women? Embattled Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore continues to face fallout after allegations that he had inappropriate sexual contact with teenage girls surfaced last week. The Republican National Committee pulled its funding from the candidate Tuesday after multiple women went on record to accuse Moore of sexual misconduct when he was in his 30s and they were teenagers. One woman who claimed Moore inappropriately touched her said she was 14 at the time of the alleged assault. Moore has repeatedly denied the allegations. So far, seven women have come forward to accuse the former judge of sexual misconduct. Democrat Doug Jones leads Moore by 8 points, according to a Fox News poll released Thursday. Still, prominent Republican lawmakers have been scrambling to come up with a plan, as Alabama election law says it’s too late to remove Moore from the ballot. From launching a last minute write-in campaign to a White House intervention, here are some possible outcomes for the Dec. 12 election.

UPDATES:

12:05pm- Booted From Basketball! A Muslim student athlete who refused to observe the national anthem for religious reasons at a basketball game in Kansas has been kicked off the team following altercations with a team supporter, who accused him of disrespecting the American flag, and a coach. The case has ignited concerns over whether Garden City Community College violated the First Amendment rights of 19-year-old Rasool Samir, who continued shooting balls after his teammates returned to the locker room during the anthem at a Nov. 1 game against Sterling College. Samir withdrew from classes after losing his athletic scholarship and has since returned home to Philadelphia, said Lauren Bonds, an attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas. The ACLU contends Samir did not participate in the anthem because he believes his Muslim faith prohibits acts of reverence to anything but God. Guest: Jim Howard

12:30pm- Transgender students will be eligible to play the high school sports that match their gender identity without a revised birth certificate or a doctor’s certification, under a policy approved by the NJSIAA on Wednesday. The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association executive committee voted to accept the policy, which updated it transgender policy that was first established in 2009, according to a news release from the association. The state governing body oversees high school sports competition for 437 member schools in 32 sports in New Jersey. Under the new regulations, a transgender student is defined simply as a student whose gender identity differs from that student’s birth sex. “Transgender students will be eligible to participate in accordance with either their birth sex or in accordance with their gender identity, but not both,” the updated policy says. “Medical consultation is no longer required.”
