Todd Starnes Show Recap – Oct 3

THE THIRD HOUR OF THE TODD STARNES SHOW:

UPDATES

2:05pm – Outta Here! Two football players from the Victory & Praise Christian Academy in Texas were kicked off the team after taking a knee during the national anthem Friday night. Cedric Ingram-Lewis and Larry McCullough said they went to the game with a plan to take a knee during the anthem. They also told their coach, Ronnie Ray Mitchem, that they were going to follow through with their protest. Mitchem said that the team has a long standing rule that players were not to kneel during the anthem. As a veteran, he told the team it would be offensive to him and other veterans. “There is a proper time to do something in a proper way,” Mitchem said. After Ingram-Lewis and McCullough took a knee, Mitchem immediately asked the players to take off their uniform.

2:20pm – Guest: Pastor/Coach Ronnie Ray Mitchem

2:30pm- Help Is on The Way! President Donald Trump is embarking on a trip to Puerto Rican capital San Juan in the wake of criticism from local politicians for the allegedly weak response to Hurricane Maria that destroyed the U.S. territory. “There’s nothing left. It’s been wiped out,” Trump said last week about Puerto Rico following the hurricane that left most people without power and fresh drinking water. “Nobody has ever seen anything like it.” The president is expected to spend at least five hours in Puerto Rico during which he will meet first responders, local politicians and some residents. He is expected to meet with Gov. Ricardo Rossell, visit a local church, and attend briefings. Accompanied by first lady Melania Trump, they also will meet Marine Corps and Navy personnel. It will be Trump’s fourth trip to a region devastated by natural disasters, including Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

THE SECOND HOUR OF THE TODD STARNES SHOW:

UPDATES:

1:05pm- Why? Investigators on Tuesday were trying to determine the mindset of the wealthy, retired accountant whose rampage at a country music concert resulted in the largest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. Assistant Sheriff Todd Fasulo said he understood the public was eager to understand Stephen Paddock’s motive for opening fire from his 32nd-floor hotel room with a barrage that left 59 people dead and more than 500 injured. But Fasulo urged patience during the investigation.  “We’re hunting down and tracing down every clue we can get in his background,” he said. President Trump, as he left Washington Tuesday for a trip to storm-ravaged Puerto Rico, briefly addressed the tragedy here and the investigation into Paddock.

1:20pm- God Bless America! Big & Rich are completely “heartbroken” over the deadly Las Vegas shooting that claimed the lives of 59 people and injured 527. Big Kenny and John Rich, who opened for headliner Jason Aldean, performed at Sunday’s Route 91 Harvest festival less than two hours before gunshots were heard. Tragically, the pair revealed a fan they met prior to their performance was killed when gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire on the festival crowd of more than 22,000 from his 32nd-floor hotel room at the nearby Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, in what is now the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. “One guy that was in our meet-and-greet before the show, 25-year-old kid, passed away,” Rich. “We had just met him before the show, but this bright-eyed kid was so excited to meet Big & Rich. And he was one of the guys, you know just shook his hand a couple hours before that. It’s unthinkable.” The bandmates said they were still coming to grips with what had occurred. Guest: Big & Rich, American country music duo composed of Big Kenny and John Rich, both of whom are songwriters, vocalists, and guitarists.

1:30pm- Guest: Dr. Alex McFarland, Director for Christian Worldview and Apologetics at North Greenville University. His latest book is “Abandoned Faith: Why Millennials Are Walking Away and How You Can Lead Them Home.”

THE FIRST HOUR OF THE TODD STARNES SHOW:

UPDATES:

12:05pm- The Latest!  Investigators scrambled Tuesday to figure out why a retired accountant amassed an arsenal of high-powered weapons in his Las Vegas hotel suite and unleashed the deadliest mass shooting in US history. Stephen Paddock, 64, smashed windows at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and sprayed automatic gunfire onto 22,000 concertgoers at the Route 81 Harvest festival. Before turning the gun on himself, Paddock left 59 people dead and more than 500 wounded. His motive remains a mystery. “We’re hunting down and tracing every single clue that we can get on his background,” Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said at a late-night briefing, Agence France-Presse reported. President Trump has denounced what he called “an act of pure evil” and said he would visit Las Vegas on Wednesday. On Tuesday, when he is expected to visit hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico, Trump tweeted: “I am so proud of our great Country. God bless America!” But the White House pushed back at calls to reopen the US debate on tighter gun controls.

12:20pm- Guest: Kaya Jones, singer who was an  honorary guest of John and Kenny from Big & Rich at the Country festival Sunday night.

12:30pm- Guest: Dr. Sebastian Gorka, Chief strategist for MAGA, The American Coalition & author of his latest book, Defeating Jihad: The Winnable War. Please check him out at TheGorkabriefing.com
