THE THIRD HOUR OF THE TODD STARNES SHOW:
UPDATES:
2:05pm – Say What? Former First Lady Michelle Obama said that many people “don’t trust politics” because the Republican Party is “all men, all white.” Speaking about diversity at the Pennsylvania Conference for Women on Tuesday, Obama said it’s important to bring in different people to get a broad range of perspectives on every issue. She said the color and gender dichotomy in Congress was particularly noticeable when she attended State of the Union addresses. “On one side of the room, it’s literally gray and white. Literally, that’s the color palette on one side of the room,” Obama said. “On the other side of the room, there are yellows and blues and whites and greens. Physically, there’s a difference in color, in the tone. Because one side: all men, all white. On the other side: some women, some people of color.” She said she would see that and think “no wonder people don’t trust politics.” “We’re not even noticing what these rooms look like,” she said, adding that the problem of underrepresentation isn’t limited to the political world. “Until we are ready to fight for that – which means some people have to be willing to give up their seats to make room, or you need to be ready to add more seats – I think we’re going to continue to struggle,” she said.
2:30pm- Fake! After pushing to remove the city’s statues of controversial historical figures, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has been snubbed by organizers of the Bronx Columbus Day Parade. One committee member has even derided the Italian-American mayor as a “fake Italian.” The parade committee decided to not invite the mayor this year – even though he previously participated in 2012, 2013 and 2015 – all because of his appointment of a special commission focused on reviewing city statues and potentially removing them if they prove to be too controversial. “Why would I have a mayor march who acts like Pontius Pilate? He washes his hands and puts up an 18-member committee to look at each statute,” committee member Tony Signorile told the New York Post. “At this point, I think he is a fake Italian,” he continued. “The mayor should have thought this through and not gone along with the rest of the liberals.”
Signorile noted that City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito openly suggested removing Columbus statues that stand in Queens and at Manhattan’s Columbus Circle.
THE SECOND HOUR OF THE TODD STARNES SHOW:
UPDATES:
1:05pm- Let The Debate Begin! In the wake of the Las Vegas massacre, Democratic lawmakers are pushing for new gun control measures. “There’s no better way to honor the 59 people slaughtered than to take action to prevent this from happening yet again,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) said at a press conference on Wednesday. Feinstein and fellow Democrats are calling for a ban on the sale and manufacture of bump stocks, the devices that gunman Stephen Paddock attached to semi-automatic weapons to make them reach the same rate of fire as fully automatic weapons.

12:05pm My Word! Debate Time! The Las Vegas gunman behind the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history spent decades stockpiling guns and living a “secret life” that investigators may never be able to fully understand, police say. Clark County, Nev., Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said Wednesday that it was only logical to “make the assumption” that Stephen Paddock had “some help at some point” in pulling off Sunday’s massacre. As evidence, Lombardo pointed to gunman Paddock’s huge arsenal, explosive materials found in his car and his meticulous planning. “What we know is Stephen Paddock is a man who spent decades acquiring weapons and ammo and living a secret life, much of which will never be fully understood,” the sheriff said. Authorities also revealed that they believe Paddock had an escape plan, even though he turned the gun on himself as police closed in on his luxury suite at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Paddock killed 58 people and injured hundreds in the attack as he fired from his room on the 32nd floor. Authorities were still searching for a motive.
12:20pm- Open/Calls/Audio/ Despite being shot in a leg during Sunday night’s rampage in Las Vegas, Thomas Gunderson found the strength to stand Wednesday when President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump visited his hospital room. “Hi, Thomas. How are you? No, don’t get up. Don’t get up,” Melania Trump can be heard saying in a video as Gunderson attempts to get out of bed. The president entered the room shortly afterward and shook Gunderson’s hand. “Hey, this guy looks tough to me,” the president said.
12:30pm- Guest: Lt Col Tony Shaffer (RET), CIA-Trained Senior Intelligence Operative Ret. U.S. Army, Sr Fellow, London Center For Policy
