Liberty Counsel is providing legal aid to thousands of medical professionals who have lost their jobs or been threatened with termination for refusing the COVID vaccine.
Mat Staver, Liberty Counsel founder and chairman, told the Todd Starnes Show Tuesday the mandates are overwhelming medical care all across the country.
“We’ve never had anything like this in our history, and it is a national catastrophe,” Staver told Starnes. “…with regards to health care, we are headed toward a national disaster, a national emergency over healthcare shortage.”
Staver explained their clients include 25,000 people with many representing as point people hundreds and thousands more, and the number is growing 500 to 1,000 every day.
This come as hundreds of medical professionals were let go in North Carolina this week, and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) is calling in the National Guard to replace fired medical employees.
“This is absolutely insane at a time when we need more health care workers. Well, we are now letting these health care heroes go. It’s unbelievable,” Staver said.
And the military is facing a similar situation.
“Well, we already see that they are facing dishonorable military discharge,” Staver told Starnes. “We already see law enforcement resigning. Now they are taking National Guard away from where they are supposed to be, and they are displacing the health care workers that have been on the front lines for 18 months.”
When asked about the rights of government workers refusing the vaccine, Staver said Title VII, the employment law, “protects everyone with regards to religious discrimination and allows people to present sincerely held religious beliefs as a basis for avoiding these COVID shots.”
Starnes informed his audience that if any medical professionals would like to join with Liberty Counsel for legal action, they can sign up on the Liberty Counsel website.

STARNES: We’ve been following the plight of all these medical workers who are being fired. We just told you about hundreds being let go in North Carolina. In New York, at midnight, they started announcing they were going to be firing people. I want to go to the Patriot mobile newsmaker line. Always good to have Matt Staver from Liberty Counsel with us. Matt, I know you’re very concerned about this, and you guys are doing something to help these medical professionals. Welcome back to the show.
STAVER: Thank you. Good to be with you, Todd.
STARNES: All right. So, first of all, I want you to let our listeners know what you guys are doing there at Liberty Counsel.
STAVER: Well, we are working with over 25,000 people, some of them represent hundreds or thousands within their place of employment. We’ve never had anything like this in our history, and it is a national catastrophe. We could talk about employment in general: medical or military. It’s unbelievable what’s happening in the military. But with regards to health care, we are headed toward a national disaster, a national emergency over health care shortage. In fact, the governor of New York said she’s going to bring out the National Guard to replace all these health care workers. This is absolutely insane at a time when we need more health care workers. Well, we are now letting these health care heroes go. It’s unbelievable.
STARNES: On top of that, these National Guard troops have other jobs they need to attend to anyway. And beyond that, how do we know those National Guard troops have complied with the vaccine mandates? I mean, they could be in a very similar situation.
STAVER: Well, we already see that they are facing dishonorable military discharge. We already see law enforcement resigning. Now they are taking National Guard away from where they are supposed to be. They are displacing the health care workers that have been on the front lines for 18 months. It is the stories that we’re hearing from them that are just unbelievable. They are being stigmatized. They are being dishonored. And frankly, in New York, they do not even recognize the law.
STARNES: Matt Staver on the Patriot Mobile newsmaker line. Matt, a lot of people are calling into our show, sending us messages. And the question is, for especially government workers, do they have any rights? And what would you recommend there on the job?
They’re being told you have to get the vaccine. You can either resign or be fired. What do you tell these people?
STAVER: Well, they have certain legal rights. In fact, this is what’s happening in New York, Maine, and other places. Let’s take New York because it’s so outrageous.
Title VII is the employment law. It protects everyone with regard to religious discrimination. It allows people to present sincerely held religious beliefs as a basis for avoiding these covid shots. What the governor said is, well, federal law doesn’t apply in New York. Well, you know what? It does apply to New York.
STARNES: Oh, what happened? Did we lose Matt Staver? He just disappeared. I wonder if the New York governor has got there. I don’t know. Matt Staver, Liberty Counsel, just drop the line there. Again, thousands of medical professionals have signed on to a declaration, the physician’s declaration, condemning policymakers over these one size fits all covid treatment strategies. So, we’re going to see what happened there.
